Welcome to Vienna!

Well here we are!
Kelly and I have moved in now with out host family in Vienna,
Sabine and Alois Kiendlhofer, and they are so sweet!
we haven't met the rest of the family yet,
But we will tonight, because we are having dinner with them!
Is it weird for me to be nervous?
I'm nervous.

Haha so here is a story!
When we first moved in our mama Sabine
took us around the house showing us stuff.
We have a nice big room to ourselves in a house which is a big deal.
And we even have our own kitchen!
The Family is really used to housing foreign students,
they and their parents have been doing it for years.
But they said we are their favorites ever.
(Ha, alright they didn't say that. But maybe someday they will?)

But anyway the story is Sabine showed us the shower and apologized that it was so small,
to which I replied,
"No it's great! We don't shower anyway!"
And she looked at me funny, so then I laughed and said just kidding.
But was I kidding?
I think we got off to a great start:)

But Ok, Vienna is gorgeous, and I love it here.
This place just SCREAMS Jessica in so many ways!
A) The countryside is so beautiful I could die.
As we rode the train in through Germany,
there were rolling green hills and the color was so bright and vivid it almost hurt my eyes!
I would happily live on a little German farm.
Our view from the Train Window

And then we got to Vienna.
Within the first two hours of us being here,
Kelly and I saw 20 baby carriages rolling past.
Ask her, I'm not exaggerating!
Viennese people are really good about getting married and having babies I think,
which sounds weird, but tons of Europeans countries
have a declining population,
so it really is something to be super proud of.
I don't actually know about Vienna statistically,
but from what I saw they are not in trouble.

The people here are pretty great in general.
They dress classy and are well-mannered,
they say please and excuse me a lot and are careful and considerate of everyone around them.
And they love and appreciate music and the arts!!
I. Love. That.

Also, I kinda think the people are really really beautiful.
Like I love their faces and how small and slender they are.
(Not everyone is small, actually there are TONS of really tall people. I just mean slender)
The men's fashion is beards that outline their jaws,
which is pretty good looking!
Too bad we're not allowed to date while we're here...
JK we don't want to steal the boys from the Viennese women anyway.
That would be rude.

Kelly got to play on a REALLY nice cello
when we went to go rent one for her to practice on!
Her cello at home was originally made in Vienna,
so Kelly already has a love for Viennese cellos.
Kelly plays her heart out trying different cellos.
The guy who rented the cello to us was really nice
(a very dedicated musician!!)
And when we said Kelly was still looking for a teacher
he said he doesn't teach anymore himself as of earlier that year,
because he couldn't bear when the students played wrong notes.
Haha! That made playing around a little more intimidating...

AND I BOUGHT A DIRNDLE!
Of course I learned that's what it was called later, I just called it a little Alps girl dress:)
It was so stinkin cute, I just had to!
I will feel so Austrian whenever I wear it for the rest of my life.
You know, when I serve beer and cheese to mountain men in the Alps.

My host mama Sabine said when I told her I got one,
that they had to wear them when she was a little girl,
and she hated them. Ha! Can you imagine?
It's probably how I feel about Pioneer dresses.
But I lurv these--my friend Grace and I both got them,
I'll have to get the pictures of us in them together:)

This dress was Adirndable! (hehe punny)
But this one was classic, and significantly cheaper, so this is the one I bought. You can't see it here, but there is a woodland scene on the hem of the apron.
 So anyway, here we are!
We couldn't be more excited to get this adventure on the road!!:)
Stay tuned for more updates.
