Museum of Musical Instruments

First on the Museum docket we have the Museum of Ancient Musical instruments
where we saw the ancestors to our beloved cello & viola!!
As well as the harp, but let's be real,
it hasn't changed that much.
Mom wants all of those instruments, I just know it.

The entrance had tons of amazing armor. The men then were so little, the armor would only have fit Kelly!

A long slender Celtic harp

A Viola de Gamba!! The ancestor of my beloved Viola:)

Love the designs on this bass! I really would love a tat like that on my viola:)

Kelly worshipping at the Temple of Aphrodite

Haha! Seductive little Kelly!

Dead at the Altar. What a shame.

Grecian Goddess Herself

Jessica tries a fountain pose

The worshipping gets intense!

And Kelly gives it a go:) What am I teaching my baby sister??

We start to get creative:)

The beautiful Kunsthistoriches Museum, I loved this place!!

Ceiling of the Kunsthistoriche

Our favorite statue!! Cupid and Psyche

So romantic:)

We could not believe the incredible detail in this painting. The gravel looks real!!

What really takes up most of our time.

Forgot where this was--but I love it and I want a crystal chandelier in my house someday.

Budapest, Part 2

Boy: "I guess we could go to an Opera--that is if you are classy enough."

Me: "Am I classy enough? Am I CLASSY enough?? I wear pearls to bed and eat pastries with gold flecks on them."

And that is how we role here in Vienna:)
JK:) But only kinda.
Man, we just have so much fun all the time.
On the train ride to Budapest I was playing cards with Kelly and Andrew Bjarnson
and they proceeded to teach me the game of BS,
a bluffing game that is really hilarious
because as my friends will tell you, I can't lie worth beans!
So I've given up trying, haha. I got no secrets.

But anyway, we were playing this game of BS
(which by some miracle I won!!)
and Kelly reminds us that it is totally kosher in this game
to cheat in any way at all. Including putting down more cards than you state
and hiding cards under your leg, etc:)

So in round two of the game I took her up on that and slipped a pair of aces into my jacket,
then promptly forgot about them.
Th funny part came several hours later when we are in Budapest already
and crossing some street in the rain when Andrew looks over at me,
and grabs the ends of two little cards poking out of my jacket,
and screeches, "AHA!!"
I had been caught!! And I hadn't even remembered they were there, haha:)
I just had to laugh sooooo super hard for like 5 minutes.
It was just so obvious that I had cheated,
he found me with two aces hidden in my jacket!!
Haha, so much fun:)

Anyway.
Part 2 of the Budapest trip really began here, in Heroes square
where we started a walking tour of the city that was really super fun!
Brace yourself for another slew of pictures my friends!

Kelly in front of the Budapest Parliament building across the way

The little princess. If you rub her knee, it means you will return to Hungary the next year!

Our silly group of chillins!:) Autymn, Karen, Kelly and Emily hidden behind. I don't know who that guy is.

Gorgeous parliament building photographed across the Danube

This man reorganized the city after the massive flooding. The water came up clear to where his feet are at the very worst of it.

A gorgeous fountain

St Stevens Basilica!! My love. This Church was my favorite of all time. Even though it's next to that awful communist building.

Another picture of that hideodious architecture. Makes a girl grateful for America all over again.

One of the beautiful streets there! Hungarians were actually super friendly, especially if you spoke Hungarian to them. I liked them!!

Gorgeous view from the other side of the Danube.

The tram tracks running up to the older side of the city. I thought they were pretty sweet.

SUCH  a cool statue of the mythical state bird of Hungary called the Turul. It was massive.

The guards standing at attention outside the state capitol house. Only two jobs get you in there: Being the President of the United States, or the cleaning lady:)

A view of the older side of the city.

I drank from this fountain (the water was super delicious) and didn't realize until afterward it was shaped like a penis. Ew ew ew ew. Then the guide told us that if you touched the statue while you drank it meant you would be blessed with a baby. Like for women trying to get pregnant. Yikes!! I didn't touch it I swear!!

Me pulling away. Yes, I drank, but I did NOT touch!

We get up farther into the old city.

BOOM. Outta nowhere this SUPER cool Church! I LOVE the tiled roof parts!

Somehow that pattern is just so so Hungarian to me. I'm in love.

When I have a palace the roof will look like this.

Beautiful castle outcropping.

The Synagogue in Budapest.

I really wanted a coat with Hungarian designs on it, but guess how much money it was? $500. Not a chance was I gonna have that.

A sweet moment during our walk-- Autymn has a foot condition and was in such pain she couldn't walk up the huuuuge flights of stairs to the castle--so Lyman carried her! What a man!!!!

We went to the Opera in Budapest, and got box seats the day of!!:) So much different than Vienna where you have to pay an arm and a leg three years in Advance to even see the left half of the stage.

Alright this was creepy of me. But these Hungarian people hanging out at the Opera were the most beautiful people I had ever seen!!

The stairs leading to the Opera:)

More of the gorgeous staircase

Our box seats!!! Isn't this place just opulent??

The last event of the night was back in our hostel.
The whole city was in hard party mode,
but it was not our Mormon style of parties if you know what I mean.
So we were rushing home.
Besides we had just found out that our train instead of leaving from Budapest at 9 am as we had planned,
was actually arriving in Vienna at 9 am. So leaving at 6.
So we had to be up at like 4:30.
Anyway, I am a sleep-monger, so I was just going to go to sleep no matter what fun I might miss,
Except that I needed to go pick up my ID from the front desk in exchange for my key,
and I still had this little coupon for a free drink from the bar.
Which I didn't really want, but you know, I'm a student!
Free food is free food.

So I went down to the bar,
and realized again I didn't want anything, not even a juice or a soda,
but I wanted to give my coupon to someone else to use so it wasn't wasted.
I looked around the bar at the guys and was pondering giving it to one of them,
would it make a funny story? Would they want to talk to me afterward??
Not happening. I was too chicken.
However just then Ricky, one of the boys in our Study abroad group came around the corner, and suddenly my opportunity gleamed:)
Without hardly thinking I strode up to Ricky all sultry-like,
slapped the coupon onto his chest and said,
"Hey handsome. Here's a drink on me."
Then flipped my hair and walked away with a wink.
He was terrified, hahaha!!
Those of you who know Ricky will know he is the most stalwart,
good, kind, straight-laced boy and such a thing would be a terrible shock to him.
He took a whole step back and gasped,
but after he recovered a moment we both laughed really really hard. Ricky got picked up by some tramp in the bar!!
Reminds me of the good old days in Drama, haha:)
Anyway that was our evening and as much partying and bar-flirting as I ever plan to do.
Twas a blast!
